So the girls are finally back in school. After 4 days out due to the blizzard and the cold temps. THANK GOD! Yesterday they were going at it with each other like rabid dogs. Constantly fighting. Then this morning they were laughing and joking about some inside joke they have.
Go Figure?!
We're supposed to get even more snow this weekend.
I am so ready for SPRING!

Wordless Wednesday
This was last night at 5pm. Gizmo the Corgi had to go outside. We had 10 inches at that time and it was still coming down. He loved it, the Chihuahua not so much.

The twitter hashmarks include that one, *mwblizzard, blizzardofOZ, mwblizzard and many more. The KCI airport closed about an hour ago, highways have been shut down and the Kansas City mayor has declared a state of emergency and schools are out for another day.
We watched a UPS truck sliding around in front of our house today. The husband stayed home today and might tomorrow too.
Speaking of blizzards, I took part in Household6diva's Blizzard Bloghop last week. This was at the same time Blissdom was being held. Since some many of us were unable to attend, she thought this would be a great idea for us to meet each other. She held giveaways too.
I was very surprised to learn that I won one of the giveaways. I won The Pioneer Women Cooks cookbook given away by the Household6diva herself.
I am so thankful to win it. I had been thinking about buying it for the past week and was so surprised when I found out.
I can't wait to start cooking some of the recipes inside.
Thanks again Household6diva!
I hope everyone is safe and warm while we are in this Blizzard of 2011.

Snowmaggedon
I guess I shouldn't have joked about blizzards and tsnowmias and such. Look at this:
BLIZZARD WARNING!
Yeah and FEMA has already issued warnings and now Gov Nixon has declared a state of emergency and activated the MO Natl Guard.
I called husband and told him to pick up some firewood on the way home. We haven't used the fireplace at all this year. But since our power lines are above ground I am worried about losing power.
I've made sure the flashlights are working, got my oil lamp ready and filled some water jugs. Hopefully it won't be as bad as predicted, but better safe than sorry.
Stay tuned for some more news.
Funny thing is someone on the live twitter for KMBC brought up that movie, "Day After Tomorrow" Almost funny.... I don't do cold very well... meaning at all..
I'll see you folks tomorrow, unless we lose power. *cross your fingers that we don't**

Get Yer Bread & Milk Or Ye Shall Die!
We have yet another snow storm headed towards Kansas/Missouri. While watching the forecast last night I kept yelling at the TV, telling the weatherman to shut his "Dirty hooker mouth" about all that snow. I do not want another snow day. I do not want to do another week with a snow and ice covered driveway.
No, no NO!
It's the White Death. Snowmageddeon 2011, Snow apocalypse!
My husband was not amused when I started saying that.
"Jeez, calm down! It's just a little snow."
"But what if we get a blizzard.. Just like they did on Little House On The Prairie. You remember the episode where Miss Beadle sends all the kids home and they get trapped in a blizzard? And Mr Edwards and Charles all go out to save the kids that didn't make it home. And they gave them whiskey that Mr Edwards had because Mr Edwards was the only one who had whiskey in Walnut Grove. So since he saved the kids from freezing they were really nice to him even though he had the evil whiskey in their town."
Cue blank stare from my husband. "Have you gone mental?"
"You don't remember that one?"
"No, I was doing something called..."
"Oh yes... you were working in the salt mines. You poor deprived child who never got to see Little House or Dukes of Hazard since you had to work for pennies all day. Never mind that the show came on when we were like FIVE!"
"Then I was actually outside."
"Whatever? But what if we do get snowed in? What will we do without our milk and bread?"
"Then I'll make some snowshoes out of the Christmas tree that is still on the porch and track my way to the nearest store."
"My Hero."
"Show me your gratitude later." He grinned.
Men.... it could be the end of the world like in that movie with Jake whats his name and Dennis Quaid and all they can think about is sex... Go Figure!

It's sooo cold even the ice is complaining
I guess this will go down in the history books. The coldest winter in 20 something years. Now I have something to tell my grandkids. And talk about when I get old.
We had to go to the grocery store tonight or the one stop called WalMart. I hadn't done a good grocery run since Christmas. So we were out of everything, dog food, bread, eggs, and all the good food. You know, the frozen pizza, yummy snack cakes, and chips. My girls are eating me out of house and home. I swear teen boys have nothing teen girls. They can eat!!
WalMart was dead. I have never seen a WalMart quiet. Hardly anyone was there. Just a few people here and there. And dumb teenager running around the place like it was Worlds of Fun. It was actually kind of nice. No having to maneuver around tons of people. You could tell there had been a run on some staples but they still had plenty of stuff.
Does the weather make anyone else get sensitive? I have just been such a crybaby the past couple of weeks. Everything just makes me tear up, get upset.
I'm thinking it is the cabin fever and all the bad weather. How do the people up north do it?
Plus my kids are driving me INSANE. It's like they are possessed little heathens running around in my kids bodies. Have they been taken over by the pod people.
Don't they know I need peace and quiet to watch all the new reality shows? The Real Housewives of OC came back tonight, Celeb Rehab, One Big Family... too many shows, too little time, and 2 girls that won't stop fighting for me to hear what nasty thing Tamra is saying about Gretchen or is she fighting with Vicki now? See... I missed it all while trying to get my daughters to stop arguing.

The Weather Outside is Frightful.....
You know how the song goes....Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow....
Here's my version. The kids are acting frightful, Kahlua in my coffee is delightful, please stop snowing so my kids can go back to school, before I go insane, go insane, go insane!!!
Okay, so it doesn't really rhyme and the other is so much better. But not we are having a blizzard at Christmas (Thanks Santa!-NOT!), below zero actual temperatures, and then more snow just when they are supposed to go back to school! And now they don't think because of the snow we are getting tomorrow, that the kids will have school for the rest of the week. That means my 2 girls will be stuck in this house with me for another week.
I was all set to do my joyful "you have to go back to school dance" and now this. I had my week all planned out and you nasty snow had to go and mess it all up! I was going to get a haircut, actually go to Borders and enjoy looking through all the books and see what bargains I could find, send off some gifts to people, just a whole day for me. Yes ME!
Now, yes I love my girls, love hanging out with them and having girl time. We usually go to lunch and do a movie every other week. But because of the snow and bone chilling temps, they haven't been able to go out. And because of my COPD, I can't be out in the extreme cold. But you need that time apart. I need it to keep my sanity. Because I can only talk about Justin Beiber and break up fights for so long before the rest of my hair turns gray!
And yes, I'm whining! And last night I burst into tears when my husband just told me to go outside if I had cabin fever.
"You just want to take me (SOB) to the emergency room (CRY) for my lungs, let me sit on your chest (SOB) and you tell me how it feels...... and then I run off and cry.
Now he didn't mean for me to actually go outside. This he tells me after he comes in the bedroom.
"I was just playing and then you flip out." He tried to explain.
"I know." I replied. I'm just sick of being in a place where it snows every winter. Give me the south where it only snows once in a blue moon, or like it has been this season.
It's been so cold here, the cat stands at the back door and does her little "cat laugh" at the dogs when they have to go outside to do their business.
I swear she is! Looking at them and laughing, saying "I can use the potty indoors! Silly stupid dogs! Who's more evolved now!"
I don't blame you, Miss Kitty!

That's not snow, that's Satan's phlelgm!
I am officially sick of snow. I hate snow as it is, but getting this much just makes me physically ill. I have no clue how much we really got. I've heard anywhere from around 6 inches to just under 9. Either way, that's alot of snow!
All of my southern family and friends say how much they would love a white Christmas or to get alot of snow. Trust me on this one, you don't. You really don't. I haven't been out of the house since the day before Christmas Eve. And I'm slowly going insane. Just how did our prairie ancestors do it?
We missed going to the Geek's parents for the annual Christmas Eve family get together. There was just too much ice/snow mix on the ground by the time he finished work, and too many newscasters screaming " Stay home, stay off the roads!!!" and when they upgraded us to a Blizzard, (yes my southern self just went through a blizzard!) he was not going anywhere.
Thank goodness, the moment I heard there was going to be snow over 2 inches, I bought us a turkey and some goodies to make our own little Christmas Eve party. Turkey was good except it was bipolar. (nice and juicy on one side and dry on the other) Our stove really sucks, I think it came from the prairie days.
The Geek did make it out yesterday. He needed a haircut, we needed some more provisions and the roads were cleared a little. Enough for some of the crazy shoppers to get out and for him to hit up Wal-Mart and Great Clips. He asked if I wanted to come along, but noway was I getting out there. I am a chicken when it comes to ice and snow. Too afraid we'd be the ones on the news in the ditch with the news reporter saying how "this was the reason why people were asked to stay home"
He did pick up movies for us. Star Trek, Julie & Julia and The Ugly Truth. I'll have to come back later and give some reviews, 2 were good and 1 was kind of good.
We had a Christmas, even though it was a cold and snowy one.
And where did the title phrase come from? What I said to my oldest teen daughter. She asked if they could go out and play in the snow. To which I replied the above.
yeah... she said, with a curl of her lip, "Mom, that's not even funny."
